Bakugo to me in a sentence is: I AM CONSTANTLY ANGRY BUT AT THE CORE I’M A GOOD GUY WITH A RIGHTEOUS HEART BUT FUCK YOU ALL DIE DIE DIE.
Look I couldn’t stand Bakugou at first. But recently he’s finally grown on me.
His character from the get go was set up to go down the “Sasuke” path so hard – the whole ‘being a genius, then having his derpy friend suddenly become a strong rival, then wanting to be stronger but suffers defeat so feels even more salty, then just at the most vulnerable moment villains come try convert him to evil” thing.
So I’m really proud of him for not going down that Sasuke path because I was dreading having to deal with that. I admire the author so much for not writing him down that path. Instead, Bakugou is given a strong friendship with Kirishima, someone who’s not his main rival, and a precious relationship with his parents that help keep him grounded from turning villain.
This also opens him up to become a very fresh rival/anti-hero type character: he doesn’t go evil, he doesn’t get an edgy tormented childood, he’s pure at heart and very straightfoorward with himself… he’s JUST A LITTLE SALTY PIECE OF SHIT!
